NEET 2026 Syllabus Overview

The NEET syllabus is based on the Class 11 and 12 curricula of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). It is crucial to strictly adhere to the topics mentioned by the NTA.

Biology (Botany & Zoology)

Biology holds 50% weightage (360 marks). It demands thorough reading of NCERT.

  • Class 11: Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology.
  • Class 12: Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Ecology and Environment.

Physics

Physics often determines the rank. It requires conceptual clarity and numerical practice.

  • Class 11: Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behavior of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Oscillations and Waves.
  • Class 12: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.

Chemistry

Chemistry is a mix of concepts and memorization.

  • Physical Chemistry: Basic Concepts, Structure of Atom, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of Elements, Chemical Bonding, Hydrogen, s-Block, p-Block, d and f Block, Coordination Compounds.
  • Organic Chemistry: Basic Principles, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols, Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, Amines, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life.
